~i miss u~

*sigh* (Instead of sighing, why don't we say Astaghfirullah).

Let's start again.

Astaghfirullah. (that's more like it).
How I miss blogging so much.

I want to blog.. except that I don't have the necessary time to do it.
Because there are other priorities, like office work, house work, travelling.

But I do hope I can blog more often.. as I've done before. Not that frequent, but maybe I'll find some spare time..

But then there's TV, movies.. shopping.. and reciting Quran.. and cooking.

I never sleep when I got home from work. I've done that before. And I realized that it makes me more tired. Making my body feel tensed. Hence no late afternoon nap..

Mister Partner and I always say time is running out. Everyday we're running out of time.

We don't have the time to perform ibadah, ie recite the Quran al-Karim, pray sunat prayers, read Islamic books..

And then there's.. death..

So yeah..

..reminding myself to stay in the right path.

Astaghfirullah-al'azim.

Wassalam.

~online shopping anyone?~

Bismillah, Assalamualaikum everyone :)

You should know that I love online shopping right? :) Anyone who've tried doing it would be addicted. Alhamdulillah, now that my sister has opened an online shopping site, Shippi Shoppe Online. It is more of a collaboration actually, though she did most of the hard work, and I must give her credit for that. Thankfully she's the creative type. Well, enough 'bout us, let's go drool over the items at this site, we call it Shippi Shoppe Online.

You know what, I just love the new shawls, they're prefect for special events, such as birthday party or kenduri kahwin. Yup, they're just perfect. Nowhere else can you get these special designs (not from my observation).

And the preloved stuff, they're mostly seldomly worn or not even worn yet!

So don't wait, follow us at Shippi Shoppe Online now! :) Like us out on Facebook too to get the latest updates.

Wassalamualaikum.

~the kurungs~

Assalamualaikum bellas,

Do you remember that I've mentioned in a post about me sending textiles to the tailor before raya puasa? Check out that entry.

I HAVEN'T yet received them, yet wearing them. The tailor said that the one doing embroidery was badly ill, like cancer or something. So, at the last minute, this is the result.

me in the red/ orange kurung with batik print

The fabric was bought at a batik outlet in Shah Alam, and I'm pleased with the result, simple yet colourful. And I love the shawl, which I bought from ShawlbyVsnow.

me in the pink/ blue kurung
The fabric was bought in Hadyai, I personally mixed and matched the textile and made into a modern baju kurung. What do you think? It's quite simple, and Alhamdulillah the tailor managed to finished sewing it in time.

Below is my kurung during the visit to our kampung on raya haji:

~blogger's life~

Assalamualaikumwarahmatullah,

I'm not the type of person who have the guts to advise or to make a point on something wrong to someone, except among family members. I don't call this guts, but I've commented about something to Ami Schaheera of Sptnkswthrt, and I've been uneasy since. It feels so hard to breathe while I'm writing this. I've been telling myself that I'm doing a good thing, but did I offended her?

I've read her current entry, and it makes me feel even worse. To Ami (I don't know if you read this), I hope you will be strong (as you always has), always remember that Allah will always be there for us, and have a rest whenever you need one.

I'm posting this entry to apologize to Ami if I offended you in any way. I mean really, this comes from my heart.

I felt that I need to speak it out. This uneasy feeling in my heart won't stop until I do. And hope Ami understands.

~the first ten~

Assalamualaikum muslimin and muslimat,

Today is the first ten days of Ramadhan. What have we done to deserved Allah's reward? Let us think and improve ourselves for this next 2/3 of the blessed month, don't you agree? :)

There are 3 parts of Ramadhan, which holds a different reward for faithful muslims.

1. The first 10 days of Ramadhan - mercy (rahmat) from Allah
2. The second 10 days of Ramadhan - forgiveness from Allah
3. The third / final 10 days of Ramadhan - kept away from al-Jahim (neraka

Subhanallah.

Wallahu'alam.

~welcoming the ramadhan~

Assalamualaikum muslimin and muslimat,

We are now in the month of Ramadhan (already the 2nd day!), which is the month of prosperous rewards and giving, which we should all be grabbing. Even smiling, which is a sunnah, will be rewarded how many times of rewards by Allah s.w.t., like the reward given to the practice of the wajib. Imagine if you fast, perform the solah tarawih, waking up for sahur, recite the al-Quran al-Karim, Qiam during the night (tahajjud), iktikaf in the mosque (for men), and so many more. You can’t imagine what Allah s.w.t. have in store for you this time of the month J So how have we been doin for this past 2 days? Are we fasting only by not eating or drinking? We really shouldn’t be. I’m trying too. Although we try our best to do good things, to do the wajib and sunnah as we possibly can, but are we sincere enough. These are some of the things I would like to share, which I get from Tazkirah Ramadhan in my office:

1.    The Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. advise (pemberitahuan) during Ramadhan is to fast during Ramadhan, Qiam (solah tarawih), and to prosper (mendirikan) the night of Lailatul-Qadr (10 final days of Ramadhan).

2.    To always istiqomah, ask for Allah’s redha and to be afraid that Allah wouldn’t accept our practice.

3.    Say congratulations to the arrival of Ramadhan and to pray that all of our practice during the month is accepted once the arrival of Hari Raya.

4.    Ramadhan is the month of abundance of rezeki (fortune) for the faithful.

There are truly much more to be shared, but I don’t know how to tell it properly. I can just point a few things today J Hope we can have a very blessed Ramadhan, and pray that our practice is good enough to be accepted by the Almighty Allah s.w.t.. Wallahu’alam.

~slander~

Assalamualaikumwarahmatullah,
I'm called to write about this topic when I know a few cases of 'pointing fingers' going on in my office.

I'm not sure whether it is slander or not. In this modern days, slander can be committed through the use of technology, ie email, SMS, websites and so on. Ok, so I won't call this case in my office as slander, cause I'm afraid I'd be making accusations too.

No, I'm just sad how sometimes one can be too busybody, and too 'caring' about other people, until another someone gets the blame. Stories are being made up, exaggerated, and ended in the 'other'  people (who might be innocent) getting so miserable. Small problems were exaggerated until it become huge. Everyone in my office kept talking, sometimes the story changes. Ha, tu macam mana pulak? Now, won't everybody be involved in a slander then? Nauzubillah. Ya Allah, I pray for your shelter from any kind of involvement in a slander.

I remember, when I was in school, Ustaz and Ustazah always talked about the hukum of slander. I never thought that when I grow up I would be involved in one (although indirectly).

- (Surah An-Nur; ayat 23)
Translation:
'Those who slander chaste women, indiscreet but believing, are cursed in this life and in the Hereafter: for them is a grievous Penalty.' - (Surah An-Nur; ayat 23)
Walhahu'alam. May we all be avoided by this sin.

ps: I'm not good at this (dakwah), sorry for any lack of info, any unsuitable word used or if there are any mistakes, do share :)

~alora roma~

Assalamualaikumwarahmatullah gorgeuosess,
Yup, the final destination of the trip was in Roma, Italia. I would leave it to the pictures to do the talking, alora?

Chestnuts anyone? My mother loves them.
Council?
The arch beside the Colosseum, can't remember the name. Malas nak Google.

Inside the Colosseum

A mutant?

Oh, I remembered the guide's story about Rome's war with the 'Barbarians'. Barbarians comes from the word beard, hence the Bearded Men. The Barbarians won in the war. Come to think about it, the war was actually against the Muslim, Saidina Umar al-Khattab's team (correct me if I'm wrong). It is written in the Holy Quran that Islam would have a great victory against Rome and Spain. Wallahu'alam.

That's all folk. See ya :)

~the geli glee~

Assalamualaikum folks J How’d you been doing? Alhamdulillah, hope for all the best to all of you. I watched Glee season 2 almost every week, but I skipped 2 or three episodes lately. That is simply because Glee becomes geli-er (disgusting? hmm, funnier – in a negative way) for each episode. Because they seem to stress on being a gay, lesbian or -  homosexual, and to be cool about it. If I have a kid, I wouldn’t watch this. This is totally against the teaching of Islam. We are now educating our Muslim children of tomorrow with this phenomenon. In rural areas like Kedah, Perlis, we seldomly (never at the moment) encounter these people. But in the more advanced places, there are quite a lot of them. The most important thing is to constantly learn about Islam, by going to mosques and attending majlis ilmu to always remind us that the only important thing is to serve ourselves to Allah, that Allah has all the power and the will to give and take whatever He wants. There are also mediums like the radio (IKIM.fm) or Kedah.fm which have teachings and sharing the knowledge of Islam, and then the Internet.
I pray for all of them Muslims to go the correct path as what Islam teach us to be. I don’t know if I’m the right person to point out about this. But we can always help other muslims to be reminded right? J I’m improving myself too, in a small way. I’m not saying I’m right, but it’s a responsibility of mine to share it with you guys (though it’s just a teeny tiny bit).
With that, I end this post with a video clip from Glee. Love the song, but please ignore the message they’re trying to point out there, which they think is positive but they’re truly not.

p/s: Boring2 tengokla jugak Glee ni, sebab best dengar lagu2 yang reminded me when I used to write the lyrics by listening (not googling like now) J Toodles~~

~our limits~

Assalamualaikum my lovely readers (mcmla byk readers, DUH!). Ok, ignore that. To tell you the truth, I’ve been holding up to discuss regarding the muslims limitations, called aurat.
These are a few common mistakes us muslimins make (me included, trying not to at the moment):
1.   Wearing hijab, with short sleeved top (sometimes way up to the shoulder). Way weird man, don’t ever do that. If we are really sincere in wearing a hijab, we’d be ashamed (automatically) to display our aurat parts of the body.
2.   Not wearing socks or covered shoes! Yes, very seldom we find someone who wear socks or covered shoes without she being a ‘tudung labuh girl’.(Erk, mostly la kot, no offense, there might be someone out there who really cover their feet properly.). How can you resist the beautiful pumps (yang dedah sikit tu), wedges, strapped heels? Kalau pakai dengan socks tak cantik kot. But then, this is what holds us from doing the right thing. Sometimes we follow too many fashion trends, that we think we can surpass a few things as we like. If that’s what you think, then think again.
3.   Wearing hijab, with leggings or jeggings (be it covered with long top or not), it is totally wrong dude! Leggings and jeggings (or may I call them leotards – for the retards, *menambah) shows off the perfect shape of the leg. Yes, you may think that your legs are so skinny, they’re not sexy to the man’s eye. But that was not the point. The point is to wear something that expose our body shape is completely wrong. So think about it when you come across a pair of leggings or jeggings. We sometimes says to ourselves, our friends and family that it’s ok to wear, yeah they’re cute on you and so on, but the truth is they’re not to Islam’s view.
4.   Wearing hijab.. the INCORRECT way. How can this happen? I don’t know who created the turban, but nowadays turban seems to be in the season. But what’s wrong with that? The NECK.
ni bukan cara yang betul utk pakai tudung ye kawan2

As I mentioned in the previous point, women can’t expose their body shape, which also include the neck. Let the hijab covers you enough. Again, this is what we call a fashion victim, mati la kalau jadi victim yang ni. There is also another incorrect way of styling a hijab. The hijab is twisted around the head quite nice looking. I even tried it, but then I discovered that the upper neck is partly exposed. Then I decided not to wear it. Oh, and did you know we also need to cover the neck till the chin? You can see the arabs wear it that way. Here’s an example (ignore the hair coming out of her forehead):
tang dagu tu yang nak habaq tu, sama macam kita pakai dalam sembahyang

5.  Wearing short length top. Fashion-wise, it’s not that fashionable. It was so last 5-years (I think that was during my uni years – rasa sangat bergaya time tu, tp rasanya not anymore). Instead, wear a longer top, at least that covers your *ss. Long cardigans are so useful today. They can be put on top of your short sleeved tshirt, and *wullah* you can go out and have a plate of char koeteow :) If you have one, put them on.
6.   Wearing thin material baju kurung or skirt. That’s where petty coat comes in. For baju kurung, I blame it on the salesgirls at textile stores (not totally, but most part of it). They always say that this certain material doesn’t require a lining underneath it. True, the material is not as thin as chiffons, but then when one wears them, their two poles are still visible (standing in front of the light), and also their body shape, sometimes can see the br*. Memang nampak la. Pastu buat segan-segan pulak, tak mau duduk kat cahaya. Hello, wear a lining or petty coat or an inner top to cover la. I’ve been wearing them everyday (petty coat) to work, but it seems comfy to me. Ok ja pun. Just try it. Then the skirts. Skirts are so in season right now. But still, you have to remember to wear a petty coat or any form of lining to cover your legs’ shape.
7.   Aurat not only covers the physical part of our body, but also our manners, our voice, our gestures. Girls sometimes tend to be ‘OVER’, gedik, which may include loud laughing, talking to a man with no limitations or slapping a guy at the back while laughing really loud (I find this common among my friends, but nah-a-a, don’t ever do this. Malu!
8.   Keeping long nails. Haip, potong la kuku tu properly. I know I’m a nail biter (funny terms), so my nails are always short – even shorter than when I was a kid (tu la padah gigit kuku, but that was another story). Wearing hijab, properly covered, yet you have long nails. Yes, you have nice looking nails (not that I’m THAT jealous, jealous sikit ja), but that is a deed of the devil. So, clip your nails nicely. You don’t wanna befriend the devils do you :)
9.   Did you know that showing our hair (or other aurat) to the non-muslims is haram? I remembered an ustazah from my school saying it. But I don’t know if anybody knows about this. Going to the salon for example, most of them are non-muslims, although they are girls, we are not allowed to show them our hair. Help me regarding this, anybody knows of any Hadith or ayatulQuran about this, do inform yah.
Memang banyak perkara yang kita perlu ikut dan jauhi, namun sebagai seorang muslimah, kita mesti ambil tahu and praktikkan benda yang kita tahu. Sometimes kita buat-buat tak tahu. So, be curious, find out more about Islam. I apologize if anybody is offended, but it is also my responsibility to bring this up and inform our muslim sisters. I hope this will be a guide (a really tiny advice) for us to follow and correct ourselves. Read and learn the Quran, get to know the hadith and amal.
